I'd love to show you what Munich looks like in the sunshine

...but we didn't see that side of Munich either!
We're really talented at going to open air markets, eating food, taking walking tours, and admiring churches. In the rain. And, surprise, this morning that's what we did!! We hit another awesome food market and bought delicious bread, cheese, carrots, and apples, and ate half of a baguette and an entire block of cheese. It had cranberries in it. It was phenomenal. Then another newEurope tour, which was also pretty darn incredible, and we learned all sorts of interesting facts, especially about beer! Like, Munich residents bribed the Swedes to leave in the 1600s by giving them tons of beer. And Aussies lose their dignity, passports, and wallets at Octoberfest. True story - happened to our tourguide.
Then we wandered for a bit. It was cold and rainy. Surprise! But Munich is gorgeous, so we stuck it out for a bit.
Luckily, our hostel has an AWESOME room to just hang out in, so we joined quite a few of our fellow wombat hostel residents and chilled for a few hours before our train. Trees and hammocks! Inside!
Train ride rocked. We sat next to Felix and his mom. Felix was maybe 4? Didn't speak any English? His mom did, a bit. We had a blast reading a book about elephants and teddy bears and making funny noises. Made it to our hostel in Salzburg like total champs.
I love Salzburg. Not sure why. The entire time in Munich I was so excited for Salzburg, and even walking here in the cold I was so happy.

Munich is an interesting city to walk around. The buildings look old, but at the same time, they all look new, and like they were built at the exact same time. It's weird. When we walked around at night right after getting to Munich, I couldn't quite figure it out. Got it on the tour today, though. Around 80% of Munich was completely destroyed by bombs in WWII, so most of the city was rebuilt. In the same style as before, but all built at the same time. So it made so much more sense after that.
I liked Munich more at night. Probably just because it wasn't raining then. I'd love to go back someday, though, and spend more time. Lol, I think going to Octoberfest would be fun. And crazy. But fun.

OH! BEST PART OF THE DAY -- We had the best hot chocolate ever. There was this little shop, where they had different-flavored chunks of chocolate on the wall. You just picked which flavor you wanted, and then stirred it into a cup of hot milk. IT WAS SO GOOD.
